The core is constructed using high-permeability, grain-oriented, cold-rolled silicon steel sheets. It features a novel design—a fully mitered, stacked-laminate structure—in which the core limbs have a multi-step circular cross-section, and the core yokes share the same cross-sectional dimensions as the limbs.
The windings utilize corrugated oil ducts and a varnish-free process, secured by compression banding. All windings are of the concentric coil type. The high-voltage windings feature taps corresponding to specific voltage requirements; these taps are routed to a tap changer switch mounted on the tank cover. Tap voltage adjustments can only be performed after the power supply has been disconnected.
Oil-immersed transformers ranging from 30 to 2000 kVA are equipped with a pressure relief valve. Upon user request, a gas relay (Buchholz relay) featuring alarm and trip contacts can also be installed.
All three-phase oil-immersed distribution transformers are fitted with a mounting boss for a glass thermometer. This boss is located on the top of the oil tank, with the thermometer bulb extending 120 ± 10 mm into the oil. Transformers rated between 1000 and 2000 kVA are additionally equipped with an outdoor-type signal thermometer.
The tank for the S13-M fully sealed oil-immersed transformer is constructed with corrugated walls. The exterior surface undergoes a powder coating process, resulting in a durable and robust paint film.
The corrugated cooling fins serve a dual purpose: providing cooling functionality while also acting as a "breathing" mechanism. The inherent elasticity of the corrugated fins compensates for changes in the transformer oil's volume caused by temperature fluctuations. Consequently, this fully sealed transformer design eliminates the need for an external oil conservator (expansion tank), thereby reducing the unit's overall height.
During the sealing process, the distribution transformer undergoes a vacuum oil-filling procedure, which completely eliminates moisture from within the unit and ensures that the transformer oil remains isolated from atmospheric air. This effectively prevents the ingress of oxygen and moisture—factors that could otherwise degrade the transformer's insulation performance and accelerate the aging of the transformer oil—thereby eliminating the need for periodic oil sampling and testing.
